JEFF SCOTT SOTO To Open For TYKETTO
August 5, 2004Former YNGWIE MALMSTEEN/current TALISMAN/SOUL SIRKUS singer Jeff Scott Soto and his solo band will be opening for TYKETTO on November 5 at the Wulfrun Hall in Wolverhampton, England and November 6 at The Empire in Belfast, Ireland.
As previously reported, Soto has just issued a solo EP, entitled "Believe In Me", through Frontiers Records. A new full-length album, "Lost In The Translation", will follow in September.
The "Believe In Me" EP contains the title track (written by Jeff with Neal Schon of JOURNEY/SOUL SIRKUS) plus a bunch of rare non-album tracks performed by Soto during the years in different projects.
In other news, Soto recently spoke to the Metaloz webzine about his contributions to the "Rock Star" movie. Asked how he got involved with the project, Soto replied, "In 1990, I was asked by my buds in STRYPER to sing backups on their 'Against The Law' album, which was produced by ace vet Tom Werman. He was so impressed on how fast I worked & my range, he hired me for backups on EVERY album he produced from that point onward until 1995. he retired shortly after the last time we worked together, but was pulled out of retirement for the soundtrack to 'Rock Star', they wanted someone who could bring out the true essence of the '80s. I was one of his first choices for lead vocals as we only ever worked together with me doing backups."
